Botswana Blooming Desert Mobile Safari

The best way to experience Africa is to be immersed in the land, vegetation and to be as close as possible to the animals. On foot, as part of a moving safari, is by far the best and most adventurous way to do this. Experienced guides will take you off the beaten track and help you experience Africa in a completely unique and life-changing way.

On this safari you will enjoy walks with the Kalahari bushmen, day game drives, game drives that are conducted at night, as well as the quintessential mokoro trip (dug-out canoe). Starting in Maun, you will travel to Central Kalahari, where you will stay in three different areas, namely Piper’s Pan, Tau Pan and Khwai. The tour finishes back in Maun.

Accommodation is varied in that Kalahari Plains Lodge offers canvas tents which are raised off the ground. the tents have been specially insulated to keep most of the heat out during the day, as well as keeping the cold out at night. The accommodation at Tau Pan is in environmentally adapted en-suite tents. The rest of your stay you will be camping tents: The tents are 4 x 3m Sahara style tents with high roof with a 2 x 3m en-suite bathroom and a 2 x 3m covered area in front of the tent. The tents are fitted with solid base camp beds made up with mattresses, sheets, duvets and pillows. The tents have en-suite long drop toilet facilities and a bucket shower at the rear of the tent. Showers can be ordered as hot, cold or warm and the water is heated in a bucket on the fire. Showers may be taken at any time but on Kalahari safaris the guide withholds the right to limit water use and showering depending upon the availability of water.

With a minimum age of 12 years for participants, there is no maximum age, but travellers need to have a level of mobility and fitness to take part in the guided walks.
