Cape Town to host key travel meeting

The City of Cape Town will host the Virtuoso Symposium from April 17-21, 2016. CEO of Cape Town Tourism, Enver Duminy, says the symposium will attract the most influential decision makers of the travel industry. “We are expecting about 500 attendees from across the world.”

According to Duminy, the familiarisation trip that forms part of the symposium will help change negative perceptions about the country. “The event was last hosted in SA more than 20 years ago, and with the current perception challenges we face as South Africa, this fam trip will allow these global influencers and key decision makers about where to send their clients to change those perceptions,” he says.

Furthermore, says Duminy, the event will provide SA with the opportunity to demonstrate how the country has changed and transformed over the last 21 years of democracy. “[I]t also allows us to have direct access to these influencers, buyers and sellers to engage and equip them with the necessary tools and experiences to sell more SA and Cape Town.”

Duminy says Cape Town needs to leverage the event in order to educate delegates about the city as a destination and expose its unique benefits. “The conference will be a gift that keeps on giving – during the conference delegates will enjoy the Cape’s attractions and will then disseminate the information.”
