African Travel Concept

North West

For the most part, South Africa's North West province is immense grassland dotted with trees and views that stretch to distant horizons, but is also filled to the brim with attractions waiting to be explored! Its inland location and extensive grasslands provide the perfect setting for a number of malaria-free wildlife reserves. It contains two of the country's most prestige game reserves, Africa’s largest playground and a World Heritage Site.

Madikwe, South Africa's fourth-largest game reserve, and the Pilanesberg National Park, are both home to the Big 5 and many more southern African mammals and birds.

In contrast to this nature experience is Sun City Luxury Casino and Resort, Africa's largest playground, and The Lost City, an African-inspired architectural masterpiece. From the swells at the Valley of the Waves and the greens of two exceptional golf courses, to the massive casino and entertainment complex, this is an awe-inspiring place to experience South African entertainment and hospitality.

The Vredefort Dome World Heritage Site, approximately an hour’s drive south-west of Johannesburg, is the oldest meteorite impact structure yet found on Earth, dating back 2,023 million years. With a radius of 190 km, it is also the largest and the most deeply eroded. It bears witness to the world’s greatest known single energy release event, which had devastating global effects including, according to some scientists, major evolutionary changes. It provides critical evidence of the Earth’s geological history and is crucial to understanding of the evolution of the planet.
