Useful Country Information

Best Time to Visit: May to September.  This is when rain and temperatures are at their lowest and there is plentiful game viewing.

Language:  English is the official language however the majority of the population speak Afrikaans and other languages including German, Oshivambo, Herero and Nama.

Currency: The currency in Namibia is the Namibia Dollar (N$).  The South African Rand is also legal tender and accepted throughout the country.  To check the exchange rate with your home currency check here.

Entry requirements:  Please contact your local embassy for visa requirements, or click here to email us should you require assistance.

Please note the following:

  • Only single entry visas can be obtained from an embassy. Multiple entry visas must be applied for at the Ministry of Home Affairs on arrival.

Tipping: Tipping is customary in Namibia.  Use the following as a guideline; Porters, car guards & pump attendants: N$3-5, Guides N$50 per person, per day and 10-20% of bill in restaurants.
