Kruger National Park & Sabi Sands Game Reserve, South Africa

Posted on Thursday, 03rd Jul 2014

Deep in the northeast of South Africa lays the majestic Kruger National Park. It is like no other wildlife sanctuary on the planet. It is the largest reserve in South Africa and has an impressive 2 million hectares of unfenced Africa wilderness teaming with a mixture of African wildlife.

The Kruger National Park offers visitors the iconic Big 5, endangered game such as African wild dog, over 500 bird species, luxury accommodation, delicious food and spectacular safaris as well as sun set safaris. There are many exclusive and luxurious lodges scattered all around the reserve; each of them offering a unique and memorable experience.

The southern part of the reserve is the most popular section with the highest animal concentration and easiest access. The reserve has an extensive network of sealed roads which is perfect for self-drive safaris.

The Sabi Sands Game Reserve is situated in the south-western corner of the Kruger National Park. There are no fences between the two game reserves and the animals are allowed to roam freely between the two. Sabi Sands is the most exclusive private game reserve in South Africa and home to some of the best private game lodges in South Africa. These lodges are nothing short of spectacular and have the most amazing views.

There are two perennial rivers that flow through the reserve namely the Sabi River and the Sand River sustaining the rich diversity of fauna and flora.  The area boasts one of the highest bio-diverse wildlife populations in Africa.

Sabi Sands Reserve is the perfect destination for safaris with leopard’s sightings being the highlight of any safari. The reserve is well known for up close views of leopards and the Big 5.
