Posted on Monday, 17th Aug 2015

There are an abundance of golf courses and game reserves in South Africa; The Limpopo Golf & Safari Route combines these two magnificent pastimes. This spectacular route offers you a chance to play golf in the heart of the African bush while staying at exclusive game lodges and enjoying close encounters with the Big Five and other wildlife.

On the Limpopo Golf & Safari Route you get to stay and play at four of Limpopo's finest golf resorts – Zebula Golf Estate & Spa, Elements Private Golf Reserve, Euphoria Golf Estate & Hydro and Legend Golf & Safari Resort.

The Waterberg is 250 000 square kilometers of protected wilderness with a plentiful supply of water (perfect for maintaining quality greens and fairways) and the first region in the northern part of South Africa to be named a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. This scenic region is known for its diverse wildlife, lavish golf courses and extraordinary game reserves. Be sure to pack your camera, binoculars and of course - your golfing gear.

Your first stop is Zebula Golf Estate & Spa, a Peter Matkovich designed golf course that integrates seamlessly into the local terrain. You are able to walk, cycle or drive on the estate and get up close and personal with the wildlife, or you can take a game drive into the adjoining Mabalingwe Nature Reserve. In the evening you can enjoy spa pampering, fine dining and bushveld luxury.

Then on to Elements Private Golf Reserve, another Peter Matkovich design, nestled in a valley of indigenous vegetation you will experience random natural beauty among man’s orderly designs. The peaceful bushveld surroundings of the private reserve offer you the perfect respite after a testing day on one of Limpopo’s grandest golf courses.

Euphoria Golf Estate & Hydro is the next luxury estate. After a memorable game of golf, on the first Annika Sorenstam-designed course in Africa, you can take the cableway up to the Sundowner Deck Restaurant for sunset cocktails and a magnificent meal. Euphoria also has hiking and mountain bike trails as well as game drives and various spa treatments.

Finally, Legend Golf & Safari Resort. Living up to its legendary name, you can play the unique “world-in-one” Signature Course where each of the 18 holes has been designed by a world golfing legend, finishing off on the highest and longest par three in the world – the Extreme 19th, only accessible by helicopter. Legend is located in the heart of Big Five country with game drives into the Waterberg wilderness available.
