Bronze Sculpting @ Donald Greig Sculptures – Foundry & Gallery

Whiskey Tasting at Cape Grace

KWAK beer experience
Kwak is a dark beer from the 19th century, first favoured by European coach drivers who traditionally drank the beer from a glass with a bowl shaped bottom. As the glasses were extremely expensive and difficult to replace at the time, it sparked a Belgian custom in which the barman kept the left shoe of patrons until the glass was been returned. TOP COMPLIMENTARY EXPERIENCES AT THE V&A WATERFRONT

Seal spotting
A colony of Cape fur seals has selected an unusual breeding ground among the crowds at the Clock Tower Precinct, where the antics of these hefty marine mammals keep visitors amused.

 

2.5km & 5km running routes
The 2.5km and 5km V&A running route meanders past all the major attractions of the V&A Waterfront offering magnificent views of sea and mountains. The newly built boardwalk is also incorporated into the route and road markers ensure that runners stay on track even if they are distracted by the views.  The route starts and finishes from the V&A Waterfront Information Centre located in Dock Road where a route map is available.

 

New Year’s celebrations
The V&A Waterfront has become the premier destination for New Year revellers each year. Bid the old world farewell and welcome in the New Year with performances from top local artists while you watch magnificent firework displays. The whole family can join in the fun which is spread around the property.

 

Self-guided historical walking tour
Visitors can uncover the V&A’s rich history and cultural legacy with self-guided historical walking tours. The tour takes visitors on a journey through time and paints a picture of life in Cape Town from as early as 1652 right through to the bustling trade of the V&A Waterfront today. The starting point of the tour is at the V&A Waterfront Information Centre, where visitors may collect their free maps. From here visitors will follow a series of 32 boards in numbered sequence, placed at significant historical points of interest and at heritage landmarks.

 

Nobel Square
Nobel Square pays tribute to South Africa`s four Nobel Peace Prize Laureates, namely the late Nkosi Albert Luthuli, Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, former State President F.W. de Klerk and the late former President Nelson Mandela. The larger than life bronze sculptures were created by internationally acclaimed artist Claudette Schreuders. The fifth sculpture in the square, Peace and Democracy, created by Noria Mabasa, acknowledges the contribution of women and children to the attainment of peace in South Africa.

 

Summer sunset concerts at the Amphitheatre
A favourite entertainment activity with locals and visitors to Cape Town is the Waterfront Summer Sunset Concerts. A variety of musicians entertain the crowds at the outdoor Amphitheatre underneath an African sky lit by stars.

 

Chess and Pétanque games
Visitors to Clock Tower Square can now test their mental dexterity and strategic skills on a giant outdoor chess board. Smaller, dedicated chess games built into outdoor tables are also available for a more intimate game.  In addition to chess, Clock Tower Square now also boasts a boules court.

 

Kids Ahoy Playground
The kiddies’ playground situated near the outdoor Amphitheatre and on Clock Tower Square is a place where younger visitors can jump and play and generally let their imaginations run wild. Parental supervision is required to ensure the safety of children.

 

Zeitz MOCAA Pavilion
To view cutting edge and innovative artwork from Africa and its Diaspora, be sure to visit the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art (Mocaa). This is the first major museum in Africa dedicated to contemporary art, and it was established in 2013 as a partnership of the V&A Waterfront and Jochen Zeitz. The Zeitz Collection acts as the founding collection of the museum which is currently situated at the Zeitz Mocaa Pavilion, and entry is free. In 2016, the collection will be transferred to its permanent home in the heritage-listed repurposed Grain Silo complex. The complex has been redesigned by the award-winning British Heatherwick Studio.

 

All stores within the V&A Waterfront, with the exception of the V&A Craft Market & Wellness Centre, are open from 09h00 until 21h00 daily (including Sundays and public holidays).
