ATC AVIS RIVER CLEAN UP

Posted on Tuesday, 11th Aug 2015

On Saturday, 18 July 2015, the enthusiastic and eco-conscious team of ATC Namibia went all out in an attempt to assist Greenspace (a local non-profit organization) in a river clean-up project which required urgent attention.

Due to rapid urbanization, many areas require increased conservation initiatives in order to preserve and protect both the local biosphere as well as the communities who benefit from those natural resources. As a corporate citizen ATC promotes responsible and environmentally astute projects - often initiating them too.

Armed with refuse bags, rubber gloves and plenty of positivity the ATC Namibia team set off to clean a stretch of dry riverbed 1km in length. The Avis river is an intermittent stream that winds its way through the Namibian capital of Windhoek and often proves to be ill-favoured due to the rubbish that litters its banks.

The ATC Namibia team decided to take action and clean up the discarded waste to restore some of the natural beauty of the area.

Thirty three bags of trash were collected in total, consisting mostly of recyclable materials such as glass bottles, paper and plastic. Another successful ATC project made possible by wonderful people, fantastic attitudes and hard work!

Thank you to the whole team!
